BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The Battle Creek Tigers Girls Soccer team lost the final match of their inaugural season to the Kalamazoo Home School Cougars by a score of 7-2. The score at halftime was 4-0, but the Tigers scored the next two goals in the second half to make the score 4-2. Goalie Caydence Smith made many stops and was able to limit the Cougar scoring throughout the game.

Sofia Keller (#5) scored two goals in the second half, one coming on a breakaway opportunity and one assisted by co-captin Ellie Costie (#8). Keller (#5) had 3 shots on goal, while Melisa Owiti (#7) and co-captain Ellie Costie (#8) each had one. Although the Tigers were not able to win the game Coach Deon Stein sees a bright future for the team.
We scored two goals and actually there has been a huge improvement in comparison to our first days when we started. We are starting to execute and understand the concept of passing and stopping the ball. I believe we now have a good foundation for the future.
Deon Stein, Girls Soccer Coach
